In recent years, technology for treating spent anodes in the aluminum smelting industry has undergone continuous upgrades, with integrated shot-blasting and resource-recovery systems emerging as a key focus. Traditional methods rely on manual labor or rudimentary mechanical cleaning, which are inefficient and prone to leaving residual impurities that compromise aluminum purity. In contrast, the new-generation integrated systems combine shot-blasting with resource recovery, delivering a dual breakthrough in both efficiency and environmental sustainability.
At the heart of this system is a high-speed rotary shot blaster that propels abrasive media at 60–80 m/s, precisely impacting the surface of the residual anode to rapidly remove oxide scales, electrolyte residues, and other contaminants, thereby establishing a uniform surface roughness and enhancing subsequent machining quality. During the cleaning process, a multi‑stage sealing system effectively prevents abrasive media from scattering, while pulse‑jet cartridge filtration technology keeps dust emissions below 20 mg/m³, ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
In terms of resource recovery, the system is equipped with a vibrating screen and an air‑classification unit, enabling the separation of abrasive materials from debris at a rate exceeding 99%. The abrasive recycling rate reaches as high as 95%, significantly reducing production costs. Meanwhile, recovered impurities such as electrolytes can be further purified and reused, closing the resource loop and helping enterprises achieve green manufacturing.
Following technological upgrades, the integrated system has not only enhanced the efficiency and quality of spent anode cleaning but also reduced the environmental footprint through resource recovery, providing robust support for the sustainable development of the aluminum smelting industry. As industry demands for environmental protection and operational efficiency continue to rise, this system is poised to become the mainstream solution for spent anode treatment in the future.
